If you or a loved one is faced with needing an immigration attorney, you will want to make sure that you find the best attorney for your particular needs. First, always make sure the attorney you hire has a practice focused on immigration law. Immigration laws are complex and an attorney who does not specialize in immigration law may not be able to know the best option for you. Additionally, not only should the attorney's practice be focused on immigration law in general, the attorney should have experience in the type of immigration case you have. Oftentimes attorneys will dedicate their practice to just one area, such as deportation cases, employment or family based immigration, or asylum. Referrals and accolades are also important because it gives you an idea of the attorney's success rate. Do not underestimate the importance of personality. Immigration cases tend to be stressful and the last thing you will want is to have an attorney you do not get along with. Lastly, make sure whoever you hire is dedicated to keeping you informed of what is going on with your case.
