Medical research shows that Paxil, and other SSRI medications for anxiety and depression, may cause birth defects if taken during pregnancy. The studies show that such medications may cause serious heart defects, pulmonary hypertension, malformations, and may even cause babies to suffer from withdrawal symptoms after birth, among other things. The FDA even issued a public health advisory in 2005 to warn the public and medical professionals about the risks found in the studies, and specifically, that Paxil shouldn't be taken during pregnancy. Now the risks are not just possible, the FDA has specifically acknowledged evidence of such birth defects and other risks. Hundreds of cases are pending against the drug manufacturers as a result. If you've taken Paxil or another medication and have suffered an injury, you may be entitled to compensation for the harm you've suffered.
