While Risperdal, or its generic Risperidone, is meant to be a helpful antipsychotic drug, it is increasingly the subject of lawsuits due to being linked with causing severe side effects. In 2014 alone, there have been millions of dollars awarded to victims of the drug.
Despite settlements dating back to 2012, lawsuits against Johnson and Johnson are increasing. Most suits are on behalf of young men who have suffered from breast growth linked to taking Risperdal as a child. This condition is known as non-physiological gynecomastia, and while not necessarily painful, can be incredibly embarrassing and may require corrective surgery.
The complaints filed against Johnson and Johnson claim they failed to provide sufficient and adequate warnings regarding the risks of using the drug as prescribed.
