Veterans' law deals with certain special rights that veterans are entitled to as a result of their service in the armed forces. The Department of Veterans Affairs administers and enforces these laws. Most of the laws deal with retirement, disability, health care, vocational and educational services and death benefits for dependents veterans. Common issues that arise in the area veterans' law include determining whether an injury was sustained or aggravated during military service, whether a veteran is eligible for certain benefits and appealing the denial of benefits. Veterans' law is also very specific and detailed area of the law and more complex and difficult issues than those mentioned are likely to arise.
